Jade & Ivory
Most of the decorative figures, animals and boxes in this exhibition were intricately carved in China during the 19th century when, unlike today, large amounts of ivory were available. Jade has become synonymous with Chinese culture where it is considered the most valuable material known and is treasured for its hardness, toughness and rich colourings.

John Firth-Smith Prints
John Firth-Smith (b.1943), a Sydney abstract painter, won a number of 'young artist' prizes in the 1960s for his paintings of yachts on Sydney Harbour. This exhibition includes screenprints from his yachting series.

Richard Nylon Hats

Festival of Watercolour
The Gallery holds a large collection of Australian watercolours from colonial times onwards and this exhibition looks at the use of this medium from the 1860s to the present. Artists represented include Louis Buvelot, William Tibbits, Hans Heysen, Harold Herbert, J.J. Hilder, Blamire Young, J.W. Tristram, R.W. Sturgess, Norman Lindsay, Rah Fizelle, Ethel Spowers, Tom Garrett, Napier Waller, Frederick Bates, Kevin Lincoln, Tim Storrier, Victor Majzner and John Scurry.

Treasures from the Herbert & May Shaw Bequest
Hamilton Art Gallery’s foundation lay upon the treasures of the Shaw Bequest, one of the great art bequests of the nation, and this exhibition focuses on some the masterworks that Herbert and May Shaw had collected and later left the Gallery in 1957.

Barbara Brash Prints
