Workshops: Monday 4 to Wednesday 6 July 10.30am
Entry to this speciality exhibition designed for children is free!
This exhibition by Melbourne based artist and designer, Beci Orpin, is an ode to those things which we play with that are not manufactured toys – a chair, pots and pans, a sheet on the clothes line. These simple every day items often bring the best sense of fun and enjoyment.
Play is an innate human sense, and although essential to human development the unsythesized creativity we use during play is something we lose as we get older. In the modern world there are many options for play – toys to develop every sense and ability, playgrounds to explore and synthesised experiences to stimulate all senses. Even with these options, instead of the toy, a child wants to play with the box. Play can happen anywhere, with almost anything.
Little kids, big kids and kids at heart are invited to discover this fun and interactive exhibition alongside a series of hands-on workshops and a special opening event – see details below.
