Jörg Schmeisser

Jörg Schmeisser

    • Biography

Jorg Schmeisser became Head of Printmaking at the Canberra School of Art in 1978. He was born in Pomerania, trained in Hamburg under Paul Wunderlich and completed graduate studies in Kyoto, Japan. The artist is known for his multiple colour plate etchings of exotic sites in diary format.
      In 1995 he said:
My interests and activities have much to do with ‘other’ places, cultures, history, archaeology. I am curious about matters around me, am ‘touched’ by what nature does in time and what others have done before…I am not part of the avant garde; nor has that been my ambition.
