Pierre Mukeba was born in the shadows of civil war in Bukavu in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Mukeba was granted asylum in Australia in 2006 and is now based in Adelaide. He produces large-scale figurative paintings that deal with events from his life in Africa. Mukeba won the Churchie National Emerging Art Prize in 2017 and is a finalist in the 2019 Ramsay Art Prize. Hamilton Gallery thanks Greenaway Art Gallery and the private collectors who have lent their work for this exhibition.
