THE CULTURE OF THE COPY

The Culture of the Copy

The Culture of the Copy explores the art of duplicates throughout history. Featuring works from the Hamilton Gallery collection, this unique exhibition highlights the gradual shift in artistic hierarchy that now recognises the significance of replicas and reproductions. Visitors will be encouraged to consider not only the worth of an original artwork, but also the cultural and artistic merit of multiples.

EXHIBITION DATES: 20 SEPTEMBER - 30 NOVEMBER 2025

Image: Annibale Carracci (after), Montalto Madonna, 19th century, oil on canvas, Herbert and May Shaw Bequest
